Tips from Energy in Balance
Free yourself of guilt.
Do you feel guilty about something? Guilt could range from sitting in your pyjamas all day to not organising your life how you think it should be. Guilty feelings can carry on indefinitely and lead to more postponing and less activity. Negative thoughts predominate and sadly depression can set in. This will make you feel defeated before you even start, and you become paralysed with sluggishness. Sadly our guilty feelings are circular whilst you need to move in a straight line with one foot in front of another. Small steps, giant gains (remember if we chose to we could eat an elephant, but only one chunk at a time) and that is exactly what you can do to offset all of this negativity. Just be grateful for small blessings and count them, (we forget to count our blessings these days) it maybe the sunshine, or a beautiful flower growing in our garden or just a divine cloud floating through the sky. Give thanks for the lovely everyday things that we take for granted! If you were to make a list of ten things to accomplish and you do only one today, cross it off the list and feel very pleased with yourself. REMEMBER dote on success not failure.
Clear out your clutter
Do you check your surroundings? Is your home, desk, or individual space cluttered? If the answer is yes, clearing out the clutter is one of the important steps you must take to enjoy a newly regained energy. How on earth can we sleep peacefully where there is so much mess and clutter in our bedrooms? How can we sit and read in a lounge that is full of old papers, tea and coffee cups, and it just is generally untidy? Well, we can’t so let us begin small and finish big. You really don’t have to undertake the whole room. Start with just one small section at a time and tick it off your list when it is done. Then move on to maybe somewhere else. The rest of it will fall into place because there will be no stopping you once you experience a pleasantly organised home environment, you will then move onto your work space with a new sense of enthusiasm.
Keep Your Expectations Realistic
Do you have an impractical outlook? If you feel the need to be perfect, you will never get going. For example, if you are looking at buying a car, you will never be finished looking for that perfect car. If you are decorating a room, you will always notice a flaw. Nothing in life is perfect. Most things are beautiful in their imperfect state, like a garden, the rain when it falls, the sea ebbing and flowing. Creativity is about allowing you to make mistakes. You can revise, repaint, reread, rewrite, refinish and reconstruct. Ask a trusted friend’s opinion. At some point, you will have to allow your scheme to have a free existence.
Make Life Interesting
Do you find certain things boring? How can you push yourself into action when you find a project empty and dull? Find a way to inspire yourself bringing enthusiasm into your life. We are all unique and have a powerful imagination at our disposal. Use your creativity, your sense of humour and your positivity to inject your task with creativity and fun. “Smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone” is just so true, just as the line from the old song, “Whistle while you work,” still holds true. Your morals and your actions should be in touch. If the direct task at hand isn’t exciting, perhaps the larger picture is. You can always learn new skills to make life more interesting!
See a Positive Result
Use positive visualisation techniques to ensure that you see yourself finishing the task at hand successfully. Visualise all the details, in your minds eye. Rehearse the scene in your mind-often. Do you see the triumph of achieving a goal that you set, see yourself feeling really good about your achievement? Keep that memory with you and think about it whenever necessary. See yourself taking a bow and hear the resounding applause for your achievement.
Get Rid of the Small Stressors
Eliminate the small stressors in your life to minimise any tension, and distraction. Those small stressors add up. For example, energy toxins such as stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, processed white foods and sugars which will physically stress your body and are sadly a common problem. Symptoms are characteristic of the person and may have both physical and psychological aspects such as headaches, respiratory problems, sore throats, chronic coughs, frequent colds, eye irritation, fatigue, dizziness, memory lapses, depression, anxiety, agoraphobia, psychosis, mental fogginess, muscle aches and pains, arthritis, digestive problems, learning disabilities, weight gain, hyperactivity. If you can’t cut them out all at once, do your best to cut them down gradually so that your body adjusts slowly, remember, for example, that caffeine is an addiction too, your body will adjust and you will feel tons better!
Exercise to Fuel Your Mind
Stress and Exercise: Look Better, Feel Better
As our society becomes more health-conscious, there has been an increased focus on the importance of exercise. Many people exercise to control weight and get in better physical condition to become more healthy or physically attractive, but exercise and stress management are also closely linked. Exercise can be an extremely effective stress reliever for several reasons: when we feel fatigued and just can’t get around doing what we have to do, exercise! Ironically, when you are most tired and feeling an energy drain, exercise will provide a boost, raise your endorphins and oxygenate the brain to think more clearly.
Exercise promotes focused attention. Any kind of exercise will do, even walking for only ten minutes.
Be Patient with yourself and give thanks, it’s as simple as that!
